Swim and Glide

I was walking on a boardwalk over a pond and I glanced upon a turtle swimming in the water below. It paddled a little and then it glided a little, letting the momentum it had created in the water carry it further. Watching the turtle brought me back to that feeling of ease and flow of swimming, especially leisurely night swims when I became one with the water, letting the water propel my momentum. I think that’s how we are supposed to live life. Whenever I have chosen to “swim and glide”, I have found that things go smoothly for me; the traffic lights are green, people do nice things for me and things go “swimmingly “ well.  Like right now, I am sitting on park bench writing this blog and I said hello to this guy who decided to sit next to me. He just invited me to join their daily morning Tai Chi sessions… how did he know that I was looking for a Tai Chi teacher? He didn't- when you allow life’s momentum to take you along some of the way, life just flows more easily.

Maybe this is what Stuart Wilde meant when he said “ Life was never meant to be a struggle, just a gentle progression from one place to another “ …certainly feels like it.

Swim and Glide …pause, breathe. …Swim and Glide.
